Virginia (Ninnie) Leverett Padilla was born August 9, 1910 in Arbuckle, California. She passed away at home on March 8, 2015 at the age of 104. Virginia was a very strong, independent, and determined woman. She was a fighter and did so till the end. Virginia was a flapper during the roaring 20's and loved to dance. She enjoyed going to the local dance halls and knew how to do the Charleston. She always loved shopping at Macy's to buy the most fashionable clothes. And in her later years, in her 90's, she enjoyed using Facebook so she could keep up to date with her many grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids. She also enjoyed ordering items on Amazon.com.

Virginia was born and raised in Arbuckle, California until the late 1920's. In 1929, she graduated from Pierce High School in College City, California. In 1930, Virginia attended Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, California for nurses training but decided it was not for her. In the mid to late 1930's she held a job in Spokane, Washington.

By 1940, she moved to North Sacramento with her husband Cecil to attend Heald Business School. She completed the business course in December 1941. She performed shorthand and could type 90wpm. As of December 1941, she started her civil service career with employment at McClellan Field, otherwise known as McClellan Air Force Base. She completed her 31 year civil service career at The Presidio of San Francisco.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husbands Vernon Jackson, Cecil Hotchiss, Joseph Thomas and Domingo Padilla of Fremont, CA; parents George Henry Leverett and Nellie Florence Moore, and brothers George Sperry Leverett and Alvah Leverett.

She is survived by her nephews Alvah Paul Leverett and niece-in-law Marlene Leverett of Walnut Creek, CA; nephew George Robert Leverett and niece-in-law Wilma Leverett of Yuba City, CA; great niece Dawn Rebecca Leverett and her spouse of Yuba City, CA; her great nephew Alvah Richard Leverett of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by four of her Padilla stepchildren Dolores, Domingo Jr., Rosemarie and Ronald, along with many Padilla step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The families would like to thank Faye, Ritzi, Dory, and Sally for all the time, energy, and help in assisting their loved one.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Chapel of the Chimes Hayward, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA 94544. The family asks that donations may be made to a Veteran's or American Diabetes (in her name) in lieu of flowers.
