Wanda Lee Moss Obituary

Wanda Lee Moss, 84, of Yuba City, went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2014 with her family at her side. Wanda was born June 25, 1930 in Hugo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Rev. James and Ida Rogers. She graduated from Carthage High School in Carthage, Missouri and was a resident of the Yuba-Sutter area for 55 years.

On a family trip from Carthage, Missouri to Live Oak, California, for a church revival, she met and within a month, married the love of her life, Meddon Moss. This past July, they celebrated 65 years of marriage. They began their married life in Live Oak and resided there until her husband was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952. They were then stationed in San Antonio, Texas where their one and only daughter, Deborah Moss was born. After being discharged from the Army in 1954, they relocated to the Yuba Sutter area for the next 20 years where they began their construction company, Moss Construction. In 1974, her husband accepted the position as President of Sunflower Beef (Del Pero Mondon Meat Company) in Wichita, Kansas. Following his retirement, they returned to Yuba City where they have resided since 1984.

Wanda very much enjoyed her role as homemaker, as well as working alongside her husband in their construction company. She put her artistry and attention to detail into the design process of home plans and interior design. In addition, she enjoyed meeting new people, oil painting, singing and caring for her pets.

Wanda was a faithful member of Calvary Christian Center in Yuba City for more than 30 years. She exemplified the love Jesus showed all mankind, brightening others' lives with her constant warm smile and words of encouragement. Everyone she met was a better person for her having touched their lives. Wanda was affectionately known as "Nana" to so many family friends. Her loving, sweet, generous spirit will be greatly missed.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Meddon Moss of Yuba City, a daughter, Deborah Moss of Yuba City, granddaughters, Cherese James (Jason) of Yuba City, and Janessa Crabb (Ray) of Yuba City. Wanda was also the proud great-grandmother to Chase Shatswell, Austin Crabb and Evangelina James. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Rogers of Redding, her brother, Paul Rogers of Yuba City, and many nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Rev. James A. Rogers and Ida Rogers and one sister, Nelletta Oney.

Visitation will be November 19, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Ullrey Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held November 20, 2014 at 11:00 am at Calvary Christian Center in Yuba City. Graveside services will follow at Sutter Cemetery.
