Diane (Schmidt) Roster

Diane (Schmidt) Roster of Huntley, IL, daughter of Harry & Ferne (Baumberger) Schmidt, passed away peacefully on Feb. 11th, 2013. Born in Madison, SD, on Feb. 9, 1943, she married Richard Roster on 10/2/65.

Diane graduated from Madison Central in 1961. She was the drum majorette for the award winning Marching Band. A graduate from General Beadle in Elementary Education, Diane spent her career teaching students and directing a student learning center. Her passion for the educational development of young people was demonstrated in her commitment to advancing technology and cutting-edge teaching methodologies in the learning center.

Diane was preceded in death by parents, brother Douglas, and grandson Alex Penny. She is survived by husband, Richard, daughter, Kimberly Penny, and grandsons, Michael & Nicholas Penny, all of Lake Zurich, IL.

She is also survived by sisters, Karen (Perry) Peterson of White Lake, SD, Dr. Sandra (Tim) Bunkers of Sioux Falls, SD, and Pamela Dahlmeier of Glendale, AZ, and a cousin Janine Steffer of Apple Valley, MN, plus many nieces & nephews.

Diane will always be remembered for her radiant smile and her loving and caring nature which she shared freely with others throughout entire life.
