Adeline Vanhove Obituary
Adeline Vanhove

Adeline Marie Klamm Vanhove was born on March 20, 1926 and passed away on July 6, 2016 at the Avera Prince of Peace Nursing Home. When the obituary for our loved one is written what really fills the dash between the date born and the date died.

Adeline was born in O'Brien County, Iowa. She was one of seven children born to Emil and Bertha (Stofferan) Klamm. Adeline spent her early years in the Junius and Orland area of South Dakota, graduating from Orland High School in 1943. She furthered her education at Sioux Falls College before transferring to the University of Minnesota, obtaining a degree in teaching. Adeline then moved back to the Lake County area, teaching at Chester, Winfred, and Ramona. In 1966 she moved to Howard to become the guidance counselor for the Howard Public School System.

Adeline was married to Walter Vanhove on May 28, 1949 and to this marriage was born one son, John Vanhove, who was able to bless Walter and Adeline with four grandsons to watch over.

Adeline's favorite hobbies were teaching, gardening, golfing, playing bridge and doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Adeline was very involved in the Howard Community. Adeline and Walt were lifetime members of the Catholic Church. While she was still at home in Howard she was a member of the Women's Civic League, Howard Golf Course, Catholic Women's Auxiliary, Howard Community Club and volunteer at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

The dash seems short but when you look back at all Adeline accomplished it stretched for 90 plus years and touched and changed more lives than can be imagined.

Adeline's life will be cherished by her son, John Walter Vanhove (Linda Joy) of Sioux Falls, SD. Four Grandsons: Troy Johnson, Kelly Vanhove, Shawn Vanhove (Michelle) and Austin Vanhove. Six great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Hannah, Isaac, Isabella, Hudson and Harper. Two sisters: Evelyn (Albert) Black and Beverly Randall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
