Annabel Understock, age 95 years, passed away in Alcester, SD on April 2, 2016.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 10:00 AM in the St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark, South Dakota, with Father John Short officiating. A family burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Clark.

Annabel, the daughter of Robert and Isabelle Fox, was born October 10, 1920 in Clark, SD. She graduated from Clark High School in 1938. Following graduation Annabel worked in Clark where she met Merle F. Understock. They were married in 1942 and farmed for several years in rural Clark prior to moving to Clark where they raised their five children.

In 1962, Annabel and Merle moved from Clark to Huron, South Dakota residing there for eight years. The family then transferred to Worthington, MN. After retirement in 1985, Ann and Merle moved to Sioux Falls, SD to be closer to family.

Annabel was employed by JC Penney in Huron and Worthington for 25 years. She was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux Falls and a member of Active Generations. She loved gardening, canning, crocheting, playing cards and participating in family events. She especially loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sporting events.

Grateful for sharing her life are her children, Terry Understock and Lynn of Sioux Falls, SD, Sally Neeb and Dave of Custer, SD, Jim Understock and Deb of Custer, SD; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Makens of Sioux Falls and Erlene DesLauriers of Clark.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sons, four brothers and one sister.
