Arlene M. Conklin was born October 29, 1927, at Corson, South Dakota to Art and Marie (Edmundson) Conklin. She moved with her family to Sioux Falls at age 5 where she grew up and received her education, graduating from Washington High School. Following high school, Arlene worked in the I.B.M office at John Morrell Company. She furthered her education by attending Christian Workers Institute, graduating in 1951.

Arlene was united in marriage with Zenith Hansen in Sioux Falls on May 18, 1951. Following their marriage, they resided in Sioux Falls where Arlene enjoyed being a homemaker for numerous years, taking care of their children. She loved to bake for her family and having the table filled with a variety of goodies for when her children came home from school. The large garden she tended supplied many vegetables for her family throughout the year. Arlene also worked over 14 years for Christian Day Care, advancing to become Head Teacher for many of those years.

After living in a small apartment for approximately one year, Arlene and Zenith decided to build their first home on South Center Avenue in Sioux Falls. They, along with their family, went on to build 3 larger homes before finally retiring and remodeling a home in Bridgewater, South Dakota. Arlene and Zenith enjoyed their many trips with their kids, and later visiting them and their families.

Growing up, Arlene was active in her church, The Church of the Bible. Arlene and her sister, Phyllis, would sing together many of the gospel songs they loved. Arlene's two other sisters, Irene and Lorraine, also sang with them as part of "The Four Conklin Sisters." Arlene was a charter member of Faith Temple Church where she was always willing to help. She was known as a woman of prayer throughout her life, always faithful to pray for any situation or need. Her love for her Lord was evident before her family and others. Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We love her and will miss her.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Wes and his wife, Kathy, Springfield, MO, Rod and his wife, Andrea, Springfield, MO; her two daughters, Linda Jackson and her husband, Greg, Henderson, NV, Marla Klockman and her husband, Randy, Bridgewater, SD; her sister, Phyllis and her husband, Cliff, Lennox, SD; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by an infant son, Rollin; her husband, Zenith; her parents; and two sisters.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Faith Temple Church Food Giveaway. Online guestbook at www.georgeboom.com.
