Barry Andrews, of Owatonna, age 75, died May 17, 2016, surrounded by his wife and family at the Homestead Hospice House, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Friends may greet the family from 2-4:00 PM Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road) and one hour before the funeral. Funeral service is set for 1:00 PM Sunday, May 22 at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home, with Chaplin Jean Stewart presiding. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery.

Barry was born November 14, 1940 to Donald and Juanita (Bubalzt) Andrews in Sioux Falls, SD.

Barry graduated in 1958 from Sioux Falls High School and later from Brown Institute in Minneapolis with a degree as an electronic technician.

From an early age Barry was enamored with music. He played the tenor sax. He played his sax professionally. He was an original member of the "Myron Lee and the Caddies". He played many years in the band "Greg Wilt and the Cowboys". He also, with a friend Richard Wilt, played in many venues in Minneapolis, in the group "Tornados". He provided back up music for many celebrities of the time.

Barry was inducted in to the Iowa State Music Hall of Fame in 2001, the Minnesota State Music Hall of Fame in 2004, and the South Dakota State Music Hall of Fame in 2009.

In 1971, Barry married Judith Ham in Shakopee, MN. They lived in Rapid City, SD for about a year and a half and Sioux Falls for 6 months. He took a job with EF Johnson in Waseca before being hired at Truth in Owatonna, retiring in 2002 after 25 years.

Barry enjoyed his children, and his grandchildren, they kept him going. He continued to enjoy music but never played his sax after 1973. He loved his pets, Vikings football, Twins Baseball and the Lynx basketball. He spent many hours in photo shop working on his photographic pursuits.

Barry and Judy settled in Owatonna in 1973 where they raised their 2 sons, Matthew and Marshall and a daughter Carla who joined the family in 1992.

Barry is survived by his wife, Judith, of 44 years; sons, Matthew (Beth Reineke) of Owatonna, Marshall (Missy) of Bloomington; daughter, Carla (Tim) Erickson of Winona; 8 grandchildren; brothers, L.D. Andrews of Sioux Falls, SD, Dean (Alma) Andrews of Phoenix, AZ; and one sister, Linda Andrews, Rowlett, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother- in-laws, Jim Ham and Jerry Ham, and one sister-in-law, Jeanne Ham. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Homestead Hospice House: Patient Care Fund and Steele Country Humane Society, or donor's choice.
