Bettie Jean Keisacker Obituary
Bettie Jean Keisacker

Bettie Jean Keisacker, 90, from Algona, IA, formerly from Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Tuesday, August 09, 2016 in Algona, IA.

Bettie was born on August 2, 1926 in Jamestown, ND to Maynard Cusey and Catherine (McDonald) Cusey and stepfather, David Jacobs. She moved to Minneapolis, MN at age 5 and after graduating from Vocational High School in 1944, started a career in retail. Bettie was united in marriage to Harry Keisacker on April 19, 1947 in Minneapolis. They moved to Aberdeen, SD and later to Sioux Falls in 1948.

Bettie and Harry were blessed with four children: Robert, David, Charles, and Kathy. Bettie loved being a mom and family was most important to her. She enjoyed volunteering with their activities. After Harry's death in 1976, she continued to live in Sioux Falls. Bettie worked at Dayton's and Younkers, and enjoyed going to bingo and playing cards with her friends.

Bettie was a member of St. Lambert Catholic Church in Sioux Falls until moving to Algona, IA in 1994. There, she joined the St. Cecelia parish. She remained an active member in the community, working with the RSVP program and volunteering at the local hospital. Bettie loved to crochet afghans and made countless needlework items for friends and family. Her grandchildren loved their tissue boxes, and the Hawkeye ones were a hit with her grandson's University of Iowa department!

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Robert Keisacker, Sr. of Sioux Falls and daughter, Kathy (Joe) Miller of Algona; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Pat) Stapleton of Sioux Falls, Robert (Nicole) Keisacker, Jr. of Sioux Falls and Kyle Miller of Iowa City, IA; three great-grandchildren: Cassandra Keisacker, Abby Stapleton and Katie Stapleton and a sister, Donna Craft of Minneapolis.

She is preceded in death by her parents and stepfather; husband, Harry; two sons: Charles and David; and great-grandson, Ian Keisacker.

In lieu of flowers, Bettie requested donations be made in her memory to the or Ronald McDonald House.

Family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 10, at the Oakcrest Funeral Home, 218 S. Moore St., Algona, IA.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, August 12 at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD with the family present one hour prior to service. Interment will be at St. Michael Cemetery.
