Caroline Margaret Illian was born August 27, 1931 to Frank and Toni (Jahnke) Fink at Medford, WI. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Medford High School. She moved to Sioux Falls in 1957 and was employed at Manchester Bisquit Co; Dismore; Raven Industries; and at Kmart for 26 1/2 years retiring in 1995.

Caroline enjoyed serving her Lord, singing in the choir, volunteering, gardening, trips to fun places with her travel friends and being with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Caroline loved to greet people and visit with everyone. Strangers were not strangers very long around her. Caroline was a great inspiration and role model to her children and family. Her independence and energy were an inspiration to all.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, James W (Connie) Ross, Whitewood, SD; Dan R (Karen) Illian, Brooklyn, NY; daughter, Janene C Trammell-Polk (Larry Johnson), Rapid City, SD; and step daughter, Dianna (Mike) Maughan, Spokane, WA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 3 step great grandchildren, and 3 step great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Esther Fischer of Milwaukee, WI and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Illian, and siblings, Victor, Arnold and Grace.

Death is not the end, it is simply walking out of the physical form and into the spirit realm, which is our true home. It's going back home to our Father's house.

Please direct memorials to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Daycare.
