Cheryl Engel, age 70, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Ramona, died peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, February 26, 2017.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 4th at St. Williams Catholic Church, Ramona with Father Paul Josten & Father Bob Vinslauski as the co-celebrants. Visitation will be 6-8 PM on Friday at Weiland Funeral Chapel and will continue on Saturday one hour prior to mass. Burial will be in St. Williams Catholic Cemetery. Cheryl was born on August 3, 1946 in Ramona, South Dakota, to Clyde and Anna Rose (Casanova) Dinges. She graduated from Ramona High School in 1964 and shortly thereafter moved to Chicago, Illinois. In 1967, she married Joel Engel of Chicago, where she had her three children, Joel, Paul, and Julie.

Cheryl returned to South Dakota in 1978, raising her children in Madison and then relocating to Brookings in 1988. She worked at both American Federal (Madison) and Brookings Federal Savings and Loan.

In January of 1997, she moved to Davenport, Iowa with her significant other, Louis Rensch, where she worked at Younker's. After she and Lou returned to South Dakota in 2007, she continued to work for Younker's in Sioux Falls until her retirement in 2015.

Cheryl is survived by Lou of Sioux Falls; her children, Joel (Jolene) Engel of Sioux Falls, Paul (Roxann) Engel of Rapid City and Julie Grace of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, Joel (Amanda) Engel III, Allison Engel, Anna Engel, Alex Engel, Adam Engel and Ryan Grace; one great-granddaughter, Lila Engel; brother, Roger Dinges of Hollis, OK; four sisters, Marlene Culhane of Silver Spring, MD, Beverly (Forest) Hubers of Crooks, Janice (Merlin) Lembcke of Brandon and Mary (Jim) Kattke of Black Hawk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary and her beloved granddaughter, Ashley.
