Clifton E. Cronkhite, 95, of Sioux Falls, and longtime business owner in Brandon, SD, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Private graveside service will be held at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Saturday September 16, Sioux Falls, SD. Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls assisting with arrangements.

Family and friends are invited to Clifton's home at 3203 W. Woodcrest Way, Sioux Falls, SD, at 12:30 pm Saturday, September 16, to join the family for a time of food and fellowship to celebrate the wonderful life of Clifton Cronkhite.

Clifton Earl Cronkhite, son of Earl and Velma (Corlett) Cronkhite, was born January 2, 1922 in DeSmet, SD.

He graduated from Bryant High School in 1940. Clifton entered the US Navy in 1942 where he served proudly and transferred to serve in the US Marine Corps where he served proudly during WWII and Korean Conflict. "Once a Marine always a Marine."

Clifton was united in marriage with Beverly Oliver on January 28, 1948 in Atlanta, GA. Beverly passed away on July 13, 1990.

Following his honorable discharge, he started in construction including the states of Georgia, Texas, South Dakota, and Colorado. Clifton built and operated the Brandon Steakhouse and built the Brandon Plaza which he leased and later sold. He was the founder and operator of the Brandon Ready-Mix in 1962 until his retirement in 1984.

Clifton was united in marriage with Elaine Kaski on February 19, 1994 in Sioux Falls, SD. Elaine passed away on August 16, 2007.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, member of the Elks for 43 years, the Moose club and the VFW and a past member of American Legion, and the Marine Corps Naval Aviation Museum. He enjoyed real estate investing, bowling and playing cards.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter; Linda Funke (Eugene Stevens), Sioux Falls, SD; step-daughter, Pamela J. Farkas (Frank Jr.) Spokane, WA; step-son, Gerald Rothbauer, Minnetonka, MN; brothers, William Cronkhite, DeSmet, SD, Kenneth Cronkhite (Lori), Bryant, SD, and sister, Norma June Noem, Bryant, SD; 2 grandchildren, Tamara Halbritter (Paul Allan) Oakland, CA, Jayme Halbritter, Minneapolis, MN; three step-grandchildren, Amy Ingalls (Dave), Spokane, WA, Leah Teer (Westbrook), Dallas, TX, Kate Farkas, Sherman, TX; four step-great-grandchildren.
