Clyde Edward Schultz

Grand Forks - Clyde Edward Schultz, 92, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Valley Senior Living with his family by his side. He was born April 30, 1928 on a farm in Todd County, MN, to Edward Carl & Louise (Helmstetter) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed Lutheran. Clyde grew up on the farm and attended country school, and graduated Osakis High School May, 1946. He married Irma M. Westphal April 1, 1951. They were married 69 years. He served in the military from 1951 to 1953 as a tank driver with the 1st Armored Division, Ft. Hood, TX. He was stationed in Germany. He was employed at Egger Steel Company in Sioux Falls for 40 years, as a crane operator and Leaderman. He retired May, 1993. Clyde was a member of East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls from 1970 until moving to Grand Forks, ND in 2000. He has been a member of University Lutheran Church since 2000. Clyde loved to fish. His cabin on Lake Big Stone was his pride and joy. He was extremely creative and could fix anything. He made beautiful doll furniture, and his model railroad creation filled the room. Clyde and Irma loved to travel, visiting many countries and all 50 states. Clyde is survived by his wife, Irma; children, Steve (Joan) Schultz, Cindy (Mark) O'Brian, Nancy (Loring) Knutson; 7 grandchildren, Heidi (Frerichs) Greenback, Lora (Frerichs) Dunn, Cassandra (Knutson) Owens, Kathryn (Knutson) Hains, Christine (Schultz) Dicken, Gregory Schultz, Barret Knutson; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
