Dale Klutman, 87 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016, at Covington Heights Golden Living Center.

Dale James Klutman, son of Joachim and Maria (Hartman) Klutman, was born on July 21, 1929, in Valley Springs, SD. He lived in Rowena, Valley Springs, Hardwick and Beaver Creek until moving back to Valley Springs.

Dale was united in marriage with Elma (Vanden Brink) in Hospers, IA, on February 24, 1955. The couple made their home on a farm near Valley Springs before moving to Sioux Falls in 1962. They shared their life raising their children Dean, Debra, Doug, Nancy, Marcia, James, Darla, and Lisa. Dale worked at various jobs including Charles Clyde Cement, Sioux Transit, and Child Nutrition in Sioux Falls until beginning a career with McCrossan Boys Ranch. He drove wagon in many parades in Sioux Falls and was in the McCrossan wagon train to Washington DC during the Carter Inauguration. He continued there until retiring after 26 years.

Dale was a jokester and spent many hours bowling in various leagues including with the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed time spent dancing, camping, cards, and playing horseshoe but was known for putting many hours into gardening.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son James Klutman and his wife Rose, Sioux Falls, SD; daughters Nancy Perrin and her husband Donald, Sioux Falls, SD, Marcia Hoiland and her husband Dan, Harrisburg, SD, Darla Klutman and her husband Nick Cabrera, Silver Springs, FL, Lisa Lund and her husband Ted, Sioux Falls, SD; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Elma; sons Dean and Douglas; daughter Debra Klutman; two infant children; and three brothers; Walter, Alfred, and Bernhard.

The Dale Klutman family would like to give their heartfelt thanks for the kindness, compassion, and care provided by the staff at Covington Heights Golden Living Center.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 pm in Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 South Main Avenue. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Wild Flower Presbyterian Church with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery.
