Daniel Fox Obituary
Daniel Fox

Daniel (Dan) Albert Fox, age 87, of Sioux Falls, SD, fell asleep in the Lord on May 24, 2016. Dan was born to Joseph Fox and Matilda (Cordell) Fox May 20, 1929, on the family farm near Kranzburg, South Dakota, and attended Catholic school in Kranzburg. Dan joined the Army in 1948 and was stationed in Germany with the 1st Engineering Battalion. Following active military duty, Dan moved back to South Dakota and attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls. He graduated in 1955 with a certification in accounting.

Dan met Lillian (Lil) Anderson in August of 1953 while attending college. On their first date, October 31, 1953, the couple attended a Minnesota Lakers basketball game at the Sioux Falls Coliseum. One year later, in December of 1954, Dan asked for Lil's hand in marriage. Dan and Lil were married on June 14, 1955 in the chapel at St Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls.

In the early years of their marriage, when finances were tight, they fondly remember dancing at the Arkota Ballroom to the "Big Band" tunes. They had just enough money to buy a drink after buying their dance tickets. Those were great years…..young and in love.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Bill Fox, Louise Stricherz, Agnes Stricherz, Carolyn Mitchell, Norbert Fox, Roman Fox, John Fox, and Hilary Fox.

Dan is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 61 wonderful years, Lil, his daughters Sheri (Lynn) Scholten and Sandy (Ted) Kyriakos, his sister Sr. Paula Fox, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral Services will be held 9:30 am, Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at St. Joseph Cathedral, Sioux Falls, SD. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 30, at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location with a prayer service beginning at 6 p.m.
