Darlene D. Schoffelman

Darlene Delores Schoffelman, age 86 of Sioux Falls, SD, entered heaven's gates on Friday, May 26, 2017. She was born on July 16, 1930 in Sioux Falls, SD to Orville Canter and Gertrude Redenius.

Funeral service 11 am Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Central Church-Oakwood Chapel 3100 W. Ralph Rogers Rd., Sioux Falls, SD 57108.

Visitation with family present 5-7 pm Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Miller Westside Funeral Chapel, 6200 W. 41st St., Sioux Falls, SD 57106.

Darlene Delores Canter, was born on July 16, 1930 in rural Sioux Falls, SD to Orville and Gertrude (Redenius) Canter. She attended rural schools, and graduated from Washington High School in 1948. She worked for a few years at Sioux Valley Hospital as a food server.

On September 9, 1952, she was united in marriage with Oliver T. Schoffelman in Sioux Falls, SD. They farmed Southwest of Hartford, SD. She worked for 24 years at Howard Johnson in housekeeping retiring in 1995. Darlene's husband, Oliver, passed away on July 13, 1993.

In their younger years, Darlene and Oliver loved to dance and together enjoyed square dancing. She enjoyed reading and she collected chicken figurines and pictures. Darlene touched the lives of many people. She was a very Christian woman, and was faithful in remembering everyone with cards and good wishes. She will be remembered by many for her kindness and thoughtfulness.

Darlene was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Dennis (Susan) Schoffelman of Sioux Falls, SD and Ron (Patty) Schoffelman of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Jeff Schoffelman and Kristy Keopp of Sioux Falls, SD, Amber Schoffelman of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dawn (Jeff) Yorke of Corona, CA; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a brother Terry Canter of Commerce City, CO; sister, Lila Oye of Luverne, MN; and a special friend, Audrey Munro of Sioux Falls, SD.

Darlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oliver T. Schoffelman; her parents; two sisters and one brother.
