Darlyne A. Gottlob

Darlyne A. Gottlob, 88, of Salem passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Avera Brady Home in Mitchell. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, September 25 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm Sunday at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem with a 3 pm rosary and will resume at 6 pm with a 7 pm rosary and prayer service at St. Mary's.

Darlyne Steilen was born March 27, 1929 to William and Mary (Volz) Steilen in Mitchell, SD. She grew up in the Farmer area and attended school in Farmer as well as two years at Notre Dame in Mitchell. On January 15, 1952, she married Henry "Bud" Gottlob in Farmer and they lived near Salem where they raised their seven children. Darlyne worked for almost 20 years as the secretary for the McCook county nurse.

Darlyne was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she served on the altar society. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading and fishing as well as spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by: her children, Jim (Lynn) of Salem, Tom (Polly) of Durango, CO, Jerry (Barb) of Salem, Tim (Gina) of Glencoe, OK, Pat (Laura) of Salem and Peggy (Darrell) Hill of Arvada, CO; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Deanne (Darrel) Wenzel of Rapid City. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, John, an infant son, Jeffrey and a brother, Don Steilen.
