Debra Chronister Obituary
Debra Chronister

Debra Faye Chronister, 55, passed away at her home in Rapid City on Thursday, November 3, 2016, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Deb was born on September 22, 1961 in Sioux Falls to Gale and Dorothy (Benson) Chronister. She received her education in Sioux Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School followed by earning an Associate Degree in Travel and Tourism from National College in Rapid City.

Deb was a professional travel agent for almost 20 years and always added adventure for those privileged to travel with her. She visited destinations in Europe, Morocco, Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica and more. Deb made her second career of 12 years at the Black Hills Children's Home where she worked until the time of her illness.

Deb married Jon Cvrk and they enjoyed their home in Rapid City, where she loved to garden and made her deck and yard a showplace of plants and flowers. Deb's artistic talents included writing, drawing, creating beautiful stepping stones, and giving everything a touch of bling. If degrees were given for fantastic finds at rummage sales, Deb would have a Master's. Deb always had a funny story about life's trials and tribulations. Her wit, sense of humor, and caring personality made the hard times easier for friends and family. To know her was to love her and we will always love and miss her.

Deb is survived by her husband, Jon Cvrk; mother, Dorothy Chronister; brother, Terry Chronister of Spearfish; sister, Pam Chronister of Worthing; steps-siblings, Wes Byers of Minneapolis, Lori Walsh, Jeb Byers and Sarah Byers, all of Sioux Falls; brothers-in-law, Robert (Kay) Cvrk of Manning, IA, Stuart (Judy) Cvrk of San Diego, CA, Charles (Janet) Cvrk of Springfield, SD; aunts, cousins and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gale Chronister; step-father, Bob Byers; and grandparents, Art and Ida Benson and Charles and Lucy Chronister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1400 S Duluth Ave in Sioux Falls. Visitation one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Following the service, burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
