Donald Edward Myers, 71, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on November 27, 2016 at the VA Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation with the family present will be 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, December 9, 2016 at Miller Funeral Home-Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls. Memorial Service will be 9:00 am, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church, 25852 475th Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD with inurnment at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the .

Donald was born July 31, 1945 in Lebanon Junction, KY. His parents were Lillian R. (Seibert) and Fredrick N. Myers. Donald graduated from Lebanon Junction High School. Upon retirement from the USAF, he received his bachelor's degree from college in Mississippi and his master's degree from USD in English. He also attended SETI for a two-year degree in computer programming.

Donald joined the USAF in 1963 and retired in 1988. He served in Belgium, Turkey, Germany, England, Vietnam, and stateside in Spokane, WA, Columbus, MS, Knob Noster, MO, and Rantoul, IL. He served as Security Police in Belgium guarding nuclear weapons and alert aircraft. He later served as an Administrative Specialist and Services Specialist.

On March 29, 1975, he married Barbara J. Bergum in Spokane, WA. Don was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Renner. Don said himself, "I was born a pagan, died as a Christian by the Grace of God."

Preceding Donald in death were his parents; two sisters, Ruby and Lillian; and one brother, Raymond.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Daniel (Simone) Myers of Germany; sister, Ann Bunch of Bardstown, KY; and four grandchildren.
