Dorothy Clark

Dorothy T. Clark, formerly of Sioux Falls, passed away on August 6th at the Tyndall Good Samaritan Center. Her funeral service will be held on August 10th at 10:30 at Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. There will be a visitation with family one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at The Hills of Rest cemetery immediately after the service. Lunch will follow.

Dorothy was born on January 26th, 1919 in Watertown, South Dakota to Ida and Theodore Erickson. She spent her childhood years in Minneapolis, Minnesota and South Shore, South Dakota. After graduating from South Shore High School, Dorothy moved to Chicago where she worked in a war plant for several years. Following the war, she worked as executive secretary for the American Cancer Society in Watertown, South Dakota.

She met Harold (Hal) Clark at a dance in Watertown, and they were married on April 15th, 1950. They eventually ended up living in Sioux Falls, where Dorothy worked for Brown Drug Company for many years. Dorothy and Hal were great supporters of the Salvation Army in Sioux Falls. They volunteered countless hours throughout the years and were especially active during the holiday season. Dorothy was also active at Hope Lutheran Church, The Telephone Pioneers and Norwest bank.

Grateful for having shared in her life was her husband, Hal; two daughters and their husbands, Robin and Jon Flom of Montrose, CO, Jill and Don Putnam of Tyndall, SD; five grandchildren, Amy Hurley (Neil), Justin Johnson (Jenny), Ally Johnson (Kyle), Amanda Putnam (Lee) and Haley Putnam; five great grandchildren, Ethan Johnson, Aiden and Claire Hurley, Kaia and Leina Johnson. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Hal, her parents, three brothers and four sisters and one granddaughter--Haley Putnam.

Dorothy will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of dancing and her kind heart. She always provided for those less fortunate than herself. Her smile will be missed by all of those who knew her. On-line registry at chapelhillfuneralhome.com
