Dorothy Jean Erickson was born on July 19th, 1926 in Sioux Falls, SD to Frank and Hilda (Fester) Archer. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1944. After high school, she worked at John Morrell.

On March 3rd, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage with Clifford Erickson. The couple made their home on the farm outside of Garretson where they raised their three children, Danny, Joanne, and Pam.
