Dorothy M. Schaeppi

Dorothy M. Schaeppi, 85, of Sioux Falls, loving wife and mother, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 after a long journey with Alzheimer's disease, at Bethany Lutheran Home.

Family present visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, October 7, at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 8, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel, 1311 4th St. NE, Watertown, SD with interment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Dorothy Mae Schull, daughter of Arthur and Matilda (Linderer) Schull, was born June 26, 1931 in Watertown, SD. She grew up in rural Watertown, attending school in Watertown and graduating from Watertown High School with honors in the Class of 1949. She attended the University of South Dakota earning her Associates Degree. She worked for a short time for the Business Research Bureau and later for the College of Fine Arts.

Dorothy was united in marriage with Thomas Wesley Schaeppi on September 9, 1951 in Watertown, SD. They were blessed with four sons, Gregory, Bradley, Vance, Kurt.

She was a wonderful homemaker and following the activities of their sons. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, reading books, writing poetry for Christmas newsletters to their friends, and was skilled at refinishing furniture. She enjoyed collecting dolls and researching the Schull and Schaeppi family genealogy.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 65 years, Tom, of Sioux Falls, SD; four sons, Gregory and his wife, Laura, Tucson, AZ, Bradley, Brandon, SD, Vance, Sioux Falls, SD, Kurt and his wife, Catherine, Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Bryant, Nicolas, Wesley, Sarah; and one great grandchild, Makayla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter-in-law, Wanda Schaeppi.

Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the local humane society.
