Edna "Edus" Rudd Obituary
Edna "Edus" Rudd

Born November 10, 1921 to Ed and Winnie Dement in Chester, SD, died April 3, 2017 in Minnesota. Her younger years were spent in Chester before her family moved to Sioux Falls where she attended and graduated from Washington High School. It was there she met her husband, Sully Rudd. They were married in 1942. After living in Sioux Falls, and Kansas City, MO, they moved to Edina, MN in 1959. They became charter members of Good Samaritan Methodist Church of Edina where Edus enjoyed good friends and participation in various member activities. Upon Sully's retirement, after 46 years with New York Life, they enjoyed winters in Palm Springs, CA. Sully enjoyed playing golf there and Edus loved to walk. They both looked forward to visits from family and friends.

Edus's abiding passion was caring for her family. Her kind, generous spirit and humor will be forever cherished by her two daughters, Midge West, Eagan, MN and Sandy Martens (Ken), Omaha, NE; Grandchildren Michael West (Kathleen), Julie Ecklund (Fred), Keri Couet (Bryan); Great Grandchildren Lilly and Lydia West, Anika Ecklund and Brennan, Conner, Blake and Kane Couet.

Besides her parents and husband, who died in 1995, Edus was predeceased by her siblings, Vern Dement, Maxine Pederson, Emojene Gamberg, and Evelyn Dement.

A private memorial service will be attended by immediate family members followed by burial at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
