Eileen Feimer Obituary
Eileen Feimer

Eileen Margaret Feimer, 94, died at her home in Sioux Falls, on March 15, 2017. She was born in Colman, SD on November 18, 1922 to Mildred (Ross) and Henry Kaufmann. In 1941 Eileen graduated from Mount Marty Academy in Yankton.

In June of 1947 she married Rudolph J. Feimer, her devoted husband for almost 70 years. Together they raised a family of four children, including a set of twins. She thoroughly enjoyed her position as school secretary at Yankton Middle School, where she worked for 30 years. A real joy for her was working with Lee Kanago (principal) while getting to know hundreds of students and forming lifelong friendships with teachers and staff. Rudy and Eileen retired and moved to Sioux Falls where they first met and were married at The Cathedral of Saint Joseph. What Eileen loved most was being the mother of her 4 children, grandmother to her 8 grandchildren and great grandmother to her 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to parenting and working, Eileen was a long standing member of Christ the King Catholic Church of Sioux Falls. She participated in Catholic Daughters, P.E.O., Bridge Club and was a member of the Sanford Wellness Center. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, cross stitch and bowling on a league in Yankton for many years. She loved taking her boys out pheasant hunting, but don't ask her to cook the birds - that was Rudy's wheelhouse.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Henry (Bud) Kaufmann.

Grateful for having shared her life are her beloved husband, Rudy of Sioux Falls; daughter, Kathleen Peterson of Des Moines, IA; sons, Steve of Vermillion; Ron (Kathy) of Yankton and Michael (Robin) of Yankton; sister Doris Hanson of Sioux Falls; brother Richard Kaufmann (Juanita) of Hemet, CA; sister-in-law Katie Majkowski of Queens, NY and a brother-in-law Anthony Feimer of Wood-Ridge, NJ.

Visitation with the family present will held on Sunday, March 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Funeral Mass for Eileen will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1501 West 26th Street, Sioux Falls, with interment in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
