Sioux Falls - Elden Wayne Fodness , 89, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2018.

Elden was born on April 10, 1929, to Earl and Tena (Buus) Fodness on his grandparents' farm near Lennox, SD. He attended Lennox grade school and then graduated from Washington High School in 1947. He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the minesweeper Broadbill AM58. On January 20, 1961, Elden was united in marriage to Donna Lee Bauman, in Sioux Falls, SD. Elden, along with his dad and brother Francis, established and worked at their family business, Fodness Gravel & Contracting, in Sioux Falls for many years. He took pride in having the cleanest gravel trucks around, and could fix just about anything! After selling the gravel business the three of them started a farming career; Elden enjoyed working on their farmland and riding their horses. He enjoyed riding Charlie at the front of Shrine parades.

Elden was a Charter member of Peace Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, El Riad Shrine Ritualistic Unit, American Legion Post 15 and the Elks, as well as a volunteer firefighter for the Wayne Township Fire Dept.

Elden and Donna enjoyed lots of family time at their cabin on Lake Madison. Over the years, they traveled to almost every state and Canada in their motor home. They also enjoyed many winters in Arizona, visiting family and friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Donna; a daughter: Sheri (Brad) Brown, Sioux Falls, two sons: Greg (Dawn) Fodness, Sioux Falls and Mark (Tracy) Fodness, Sioux Falls; four granddaughters: Megan (Zach) Dibble, Sioux Falls, Rachel Fodness (Dillon), Fort Mill, SC, Haley and Riley Fodness, Sioux Falls; two grandsons: Cole Brown, Sioux Falls, Haden Fodness, Sioux Falls; sister-in-law Sally Fodness, Sioux Falls. He was also a proud uncle.

Elden's parents and brother Francis preceded him in death.

Visitation with the family present will be from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 West 41st Street. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 17, 2018, at Peace Lutheran Church with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery.
