Elroy Leslie Blomberg died Oct. 24, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on a farm in Astoria, S.D. He was 93.

He graduated from Astoria High in 1939 and attended South Dakota Eastern Normal in Madison, S.D. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1942 and served until 1945, stationed in the South Pacific with the 1098th Signal Corp, earning the rank of technical sergeant. After returning from the war, he and Delores Thompsen, of Woodburn, OR, were married in Sioux Falls, where they lived until 1965, when they moved to Woodburn.

Dad enjoyed reading, poetry and spending time with his family, which he often said, "made the best friends." He sang with the Scandinavian men's singing group the "Thorsmen Norwegian Male Chorus" and could be found most Sundays at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodburn. Dad worked for over 50 years as a parts manager for International Harvester Companies in Sioux Falls and Woodburn.

Dad was loved by many and liked by all. It was often said, "Your dad is so nice."

Elroy was preceded in death by brothers Vernon, Norin, Donald and sister Melba.

He leaves behind his wife Delores and three sons, John (Julie) of Myrtle Creek, OR, David (Jeri) of Jefferson, OR and Paul (Theresa) of Woodburn, OR. He also will be deeply missed by his five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 1036 E. Lincoln St in Woodburn at 11:00 AM on October 31st.
