Emmett B. "Ike" Oleson
Sioux Falls, SD, Emmett B. "Ike" Oleson, age 90, died on Friday, January 30, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Family present visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM on Monday at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with a public Masonic service beginning at 6:30 PM. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Springfield United Congregational Church of Christ, 1002 College St., Springfield, SD.
Ike served as Director of Vocational Education for the State of South Dakota from 1965 to 1977, establishing six post-secondary vocational schools. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, educator, coach, community leader, Past Potentate of Yelduz Shrine in Aberdeen, SD, and friend.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Frankie M. Oleson, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Nancy Frentz and her husband, Gary of Custer, SD; son, Kurtis Oleson and his wife, Jan, Sioux Falls, SD; four granddaughters: twins, Kelly (Eric) McMillan, Wall, SD and Kate Frentz, Hill City, SD, Jessie Oleson and Mikayla Oleson, both of Sioux Falls, SD; and one future great-granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Carrie Odena Oleson; one sister and seven brothers.
