Eva Leone Olinger

Eva Leone Olinger, 98, of Sioux Falls, SD, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Good Samaritan Luther Manor.

Eva Leone Olinger, daughter of Francis M. and Emma C. (Jensen) McQuisten, was born on February 24, 1918, in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended Mark Twain Elementary School and graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1936.

Eva was united in marriage with Marvin E. Olinger on June 30, 1940, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. The couple remained in Sioux Falls and raised seven children. Their home was always open for family and friends and never denied caring hospitality.

Eva was a charter member of First Lutheran Church, baptized January 26, 1919, and a member of the Lydia Circle. She was Past President of AFL-CIO Council of Auxiliaries, Past President of Mechanics Union 687 Auxiliary, Member of American Legion Auxiliary Potter Post Unit #3, and Mother's Day Tea Association.

Eva loved her family, teaching Sunday School, bowling, and playing cards and Bingo.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Lila Speckles, Chamberlain, SD, Kenneth Olinger (Carolyn), Comstock Park, MI, Donna Todd (Jack), Las Vegas, NV, Vicki Kettler (Jim), Big Bear Lake, CA, Verne Olinger (Sue), University Place, WA, Don Olinger, Manchester, CT, Rodney Olinger (Sandy), of Hartford, SD; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her parents; brothers, Edwin, Robert and Eugene; sisters, Lula and Ruby; grandson, Brant; and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Ann.

The Olinger Family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Luther Manor and Sanford Hospice for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to First Lutheran Media Ministry.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue, with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 Sunday afternoon. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 17, 2016, at First Lutheran Church with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
