Gary Leslie Taylor, S3, of Sioux Falls, SD, died peacefully in the presence of his family on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 7:49am.

Gary was born February 10, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio. He was able to travel the world with his family due to his father being in the Air Force. He graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1981, and received a full ride scholarship to the University of South Dakota where he excelled in football. He graduated in May 1986, with degrees in Criminal Justice and Physical Education. He met his future wife, Julie, at USD, and they married in 1989.

He worked for the Department of Corrections in Sioux Falls from 1987 - 2012. Gary volunteered many hours of his time to coach, encourage, and positively influence young boys in football and soccer. He was a great husband, dad, brother, son, and a friend and role model to many.

He is survived by wife, Julie Taylor; daughter, Ashley Taylor; and son, Jordan Taylor; his loving mother, Evaline Taylor; sisters, Kelly (Kenny) and Sherri Taylor; brothers, Sean and Keith (ShinChing) Taylor; nieces, Christina, Sara, and Victoria Taylor; and nephews, Jesse, Kyle, Javion, Christopher, and Robert Taylor. He was preceded in death by father, Everette Taylor Jr.; brothers, Everette Taylor III, Derek Taylor Sr.; and nephew, Derek Taylor Jr.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, September 22, at Peace Lutheran Church, 5509 W. 41st Street. Visitation begins at 2:00pm, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 Monday evening at Miller Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street.
