George Plante Obituary
George Plante

George Plante, 74, passed away November 18, 2016. Born in the Twin Cities on January 23, 1942, he spent most of his life in the Minneapolis area before retiring to Sioux Falls, SD. A gifted chef, peerless storyteller, and unapologetic prankster, George loved entertaining his family and friends at gatherings large and small. He left an indelible footprint on everyone he touched with his storytelling, warm hugs, enticing scents from his kitchen, thoughtful advice, love and friendship.

George's heart belonged to his wife Carol, his soul's true friend and constant companion for 45 years. Throughout all of life's ups and downs, Carol was his anchor. They shared countless adventures, but particularly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—from trips to the grocery store in search of the perfect ingredients for George's next culinary masterpiece to their daily "pick the stick" competition while watching the Minnesota Twins.

Preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Survived by his beloved wife, Carol; children, DeeDee Hughes, Shelly Oliver, Sandy (Scott) Smith, and Mitch (Kay) Siglowski; brother, Gene Plante; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Memorial planned for February.
