Gladys Vivian (Anderson) Van Emmerik

Gladys Vivian (Anderson) Van Emmerik, 94, born October 14, 1922 in Montrose, SD., passed on peacefully March 10th surrounded by loving family and friends.

Gladys attended local schools in and around the Salem area. Married Lawrence (Larry) Van Emmerik on December 29, 1939 in Harding, NE. After marriage, she lived in and around the Salem area until moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1965. She retired from McKennan Hospital (Avera), Sioux Falls, SD., after 32 years in 1993. Gladys spent the early part of her retirement living in Baltic, SD. The last 12 years she resided at Regency Square in South Sioux City, NE.

Visitation at Kinzley Funeral Home on Friday, March 17, 5:00-7:00pm with family members present.

Funeral services for Gladys will be held at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem on Saturday, March 18, at 3 PM. A luncheon to follow. The interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery.

Above all Gladys loved her family and friends. Her survivors include 9 children, Edward, Sioux Falls, SD; Kenneth, Chandler, AZ; Beverly Vogel, Omaha, NE; Delbert (Diane), Maple Grove, MN; David, Sioux Falls, SD; Bonnie McCoy, So. Sioux City, NE; Chuck, Sioux Falls, SD; Kevin, Crystal, MN; and Keith (Hope) Happy Valley, OR. Grateful to be near her heart are 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband (Larry), parents (Lars and Hildur), sister (Edith), two brothers (Ray and Ranny), grandchildren Tammy, and Chipper (Kenneth Jr.), and great grandson Mitchell. Her spirit lives on in the memories of those who love her.
