Hazel Juliet Bogaard Obituary
Hazel Juliet Bogaard

Hazel Juliet Bogaard, 94, went home to be with Jesus on June 5, 2017, in Sioux Falls, SD.

Hazel was born February 17, 1923 in Crandon, SD, to John William "Bill" and Minnie Martinson Kreykes. She graduated from Yankton High School and, in 1944, Sacred Heart School of Nursing, after which she served her country as a Second Lieutenant with the Army Nurse Corps, caring for WWII soldiers on the 142nd General Hospital ship off the coast of India.

Hazel married Milo Bogaard on August 14, 1946 in Sheldon, Iowa, where she lived for the next 69 years, raising four children and serving the Lord with her husband in various capacities at Bethel Reformed Church of Sheldon and with Wycliffe Bible Translators in North Carolina, England, and Papua New Guinea.

A memorial service will be held at Miller Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls on June 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM.

She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Beth (Jim) Brown of Sioux Falls, SD, Bonita (Philip) Gille of Eufaula, AL, and Ruth (Tim) Meendering of Grand Rapids, MI, one son, Norman Bogaard of Sioux Falls, SD, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Wayne Kreykes of Sun City, AZ. Her husband, Milo, her parents and her brother, Morris Kreykes, preceded her in death.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends who rejoice in knowing that she is "absent from the body, but present with the Lord."
