Sioux Falls - Hazel V. Pedersen, 92, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Avera Dougherty Hospice House. Her funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, April 15 at Grace Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Thursday, April 14 at George Boom Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Hazel Horge was born on September 4, 1923 to Ole and Rena (Sundem) Horge in Hills, Minnesota. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1941. After graduation she moved to Sioux Falls, SD and attended Nettleton College of Business to study shorthand, typing and bookkeeping.

Hazel was united in marriage with Howard Pedersen on October 13, 1946 in Hills, MN. The couple was blessed with 6 children. Hazel helped with Howard's business adventures as a bookkeeper for Pedersen Construction. In addition, the couple owned Harney Campground near Keystone, SD in the 1970's. They also owned and operated Tolley's Café in Beresford, SD.

Hazel was a life member of Grace Lutheran Church and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, along with being a member of Sons of Norway. Camping and boating were a few of the many things the family loved to do together.

Grateful for having shared Hazel's life are six children, Sandra Pedersen, Sioux Falls, Leroy (Howie) Pedersen, Omaha, NE, Gary (Corey) Pedersen, Sioux Falls, Rodney Pedersen, Vermillion, SD, Darryl (Pam) Pedersen, Sioux Falls, Tamara (R.F.) Buche, Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren, Shane Pedersen, Justin (Alexis) Pedersen, Kris Heckart, Joe Pedersen, Ryan Pedersen, Marcus Pedersen, Carly Pedersen, Ross (Sam) Pedersen, Heather Pedersen, Heidi Pedersen, Taylor Pedersen, Molly Buche, Shannon Olson, Gus Buche, Grace Buche; and 6 great grandchildren, Autumn Pedersen, Rhiley Pedersen, Daviney Pedersen, Marlee Jacomet and Jamarius and Julius Job.
