Henrietta "Henri" King Obituary
Henrietta "Henri" King

Henri King, Sioux Falls, SD, died July 31, 2017, in Sioux Falls. She was 86.

Henrietta King was born March 28, 1931, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, to Peter and Marie (Vanden Hul) Rozeboom. She was raised in Rock Valley and attended local schools. Henri moved to California where she had met her future husband, Ted.

On June 1, 1952, Henri was united in marriage to Telford "Ted" King. The couple returned to the Midwest, settling in Sioux Falls. Henri worked retail at JC Penney, and at several area restaurants and bakeries, including Sunshine, McDonald's, Minerva's 26th St. Grill, and the Cracked Pot. In 1983, the couple moved to California and returned in 1988. Following Ted's decline in health, Henri retired from food service to care for him. She was selfless in providing tender and loving care to her husband. In addition to this, Henri was tireless in volunteering her time to both church and community. Ted preceded her in death on February 13, 2016.

Henri, Ted, and the family loved to go fishing. Summer months were filled with fishing and camping trips at regional lakes. In her free time, Henri enjoyed baking, and playing cards. Family centered, she absolutely cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also had a tender spot for animals and particularly loved her kitty, "Buttons." A person of deep and personal faith, Henri was blessed with a generous, loving and light-hearted spirit.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Vernell King and his wife, Donna Portz King, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, DeLana Woodward, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Daejanae Woodward, Ryan E. King (April); great grandchildren, Hunter, Avery, Alina, Willow and Grady King; brothers, Marion Rozeboom (Shirley), Sioux Falls, SD, Marvin Rozeboom (Rheba), Sioux Falls, SD, Delmar Rozeboom (Mildred), Rock Valley, IA; and sisters-in-law, Albertha and Sandy. In addition to her husband, Ted, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Vernon and Herman Rozeboom.

A Life Celebration Service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, August 7, 2017, at Miller Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Avenue (81st and Minnesota.)
