Ida Mae Kolbrek of Sioux Falls went to her eternal home with our Lord Jesus Christ, on November 9, 2016 at the age of 100.

Ida Mae was born in Fairfax, SD on July 18, 1916 to Nels David and Beda Hansen. After living in both Fairfax and Sioux Falls they settled in Sioux Falls where Ida Mae lived with her parents, brothers and sisters. She graduated from Washington High School and, while living at home, was employed for an attorney in downtown Sioux Falls. On New Year's Eve., 1936, she married Loyal Kolbrek, her brother Adolph's best friend.

Ida Mae lived in a number of homes while Loyal was employed at John Morrell & Company in Sioux Falls. During those years they also owned and operated two motels in Sioux Falls and Luverne, MN. Ida Mae and her husband were very active at Central Baptist in Sioux Falls. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, served in the nursery and was active with the women's ministry. Of particular note was her participation in the church choir for over 50 years. She and her sister Ethel were cooks one summer at a Bible camp at Lake Shetek.

Ida Mae was a gracious hostess, being prepared with cake, pie and cookies for the many friends who would stop by for coffee. In retirement, Ida Mae and Loyal traveled south during which time Ida Mae took up golf and painting while enjoying the warmer weather. In recent years she resided at Trail Ridge retirement community.

Those left to cherish her memory are 3 sons, Dennis (Carolyn), Jan (Mary Ann), Jim (Connie), and daughter Pat (Stan Pickard), her grandchildren Laurie (Kent) Loar, Jon (Tracey) Kolbrek, Marcie(Jeff) Abrahamson, Michelle (David) Starr, Heather (Royce) Risser, Sheila Pickard, Joel (Mindi) Pickard, Chad (Leanna) Pickard, Cory (Ronda) Pickard, Bill (Ann) Kolbrek, Lindsey (Tyler) Ward and Elise (Paul)Pulido, 26 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ida Mae was preceded in death by her husband Loyal, parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Union Gospel Mission, Gideons International or the . Visitation will be on Friday with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will be at 9:30 am Saturday at Hills of Rest Memorial Park. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12, at Central Baptist Church.
