Jacqueline DeVaney

Jacqueline Lee DeVaney passed away February 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel. 7400 S Minnesota Ave in Sioux Falls. The family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00pm March 6, 2017 also at the Southside Miller Funeral Home.

Jackie was born October 29, 1933 to Corenne Hockett and Frank Hockett. She was united in Marriage to Thomas J. DeVaney Sr.

Mom was an extraordinary woman. She had an in-home Day Care for 38 years and was fortunate to be able to watch her own grandchildren and also her oldest Great Granddaughter, Gracie. We will always be grateful for the loving care she provided to our children and the close relationships that they had with her. Mom also had some very special families that she considered an extension of her own family. The Ode's, Fishers, Harvey's and Bills. She cared very deeply for them and their children.

Mom didn't know how to cook for one person. She always cooked for 10 people and then would call one of us or a grandchild to stop by to pick up dinner for the night. She loved to share her treats with all of her friends. She was a marvelous cook and baker.

She loved spending time at Lake Brant during the summer. As soon as she arrived at the cabin she would sit down and start chopping veggies or making potato salad. Her lake friends were very dear to her and evenings on the deck will never be the same.

Mom was a generous soul and we were so fortunate to have had her to guide our children and us.

Jackie is survived by three sons, Tim DeVaney, Tom DeVaney Jr (Deb), of Sioux Falls Randy DeVaney (Kathy) of Houston TX and two daughters, Pam Pfeifer (Jim) of Sioux Falls and Melinda Muhmel (Dave) Valley Springs, SD

Also, 9 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Corenne Hockett, brothers, Bob, Ron, Frank and Murray Hockett, Sisters, Lavonne Brown, Darlene Noonan, Roberta Halseth, and Pat Polson. Also, her former husband Tom DeVaney Sr.

Jackie loved children. Memorials may be directed to the Children's Home Society in Sioux Falls.
