Jacqueline Zimmer was born September 18, 1958 to Eugene and Marlys (Erickson) Zimmer in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended Christ the King School in Sioux Falls and graduated from Montrose High School in 1976. Jackie graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dakota State College in 1989 with a degree in Biology & Science/Mathematics Education.

Jackie was united in marriage with Joseph Halbritter in 1976. Together they had 3 children, and they co-founded Halbritter, Inc. and Wellington Brown's Steakhouse during their 20 years of marriage. Before she was a business owner, Jackie worked as a teacher in Dell Rapids. After moving to Sioux Falls in 1996 she worked at the Top Hat, Qwest, and most recently the Shop-N-Cart chain where she met many friends.

A loving grandmother, Jackie found great joy in spending time with her granddaughter Lily. She was a devoted daughter and sister who frequently visited her parents at the family farm to participate in spirited games of pinochle. Jackie also enjoyed reading, volunteering, and knitting blankets, hats, and mittens for the homeless. She always put others before herself and had an infectious laugh remembered by all who knew her.

Jackie is survived by: her children, Lee of Montrose, Jeff (Samantha Williamson) & their daughter Lily of Sioux Falls, and Tara (Travis Miller) of Salem; her parents, Eugene and Marlys of Montrose; her siblings, Suzanne (Ken) Jimmerson of Rapid City, Beverly (Gordon) Underwood of Appleton, WI, Pati Zimmer of Punta Gorda, FL, Ken (Tina) Zimmer of Gypsum, CO, Nita (Steve) Carey of Sioux Falls, Gary (Susan) Zimmer of River Falls, WI, and Brian (Roxy) Zimmer of Mitchell, SD; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
