Sioux Falls, SD - Dr. Jane Doyle Bromert, educator and beloved partner of Dan Scott, passed away May 15, 2018 at Sanford Foundation Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, SD with the grace and dignity that characterized her life. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 22 at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory, Sioux Falls, with private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation starts at 5:00 PM Monday, May 21 at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Born September 26, 1947 in Beatrice, NE, Jane was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Beatrice, Saint Mary's University in San Antonio, TX and Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She received her doctoral degree in Adult and Higher Education from the University of South Dakota, in addition to her studies at the Institute for the Management of Lifelong Education at Harvard University. Dr. Bromert served in positions of trust and authority at several regional institutions of higher education, including Associate Dean of the College at Huron College, Dean of Statewide Educational Services at the University of South Dakota and President of Kilian Community College in Sioux Falls. A highly regarded presenter and a published researcher in the field of higher education, Jane was an active member of state, regional and national professional educational organizations, and was dedicated to improving the communities in which she lived through her participation in public service organizations throughout South Dakota.

Her keen intelligence, witty sense of humor and loving, caring nature will be deeply missed by her life partner, Dan Scott, Sioux Falls, SD; her siblings, Kathryn Doyle, Phoenix, AZ, Charles Doyle and his wife, Carol, Lincoln, NE, Patricia Doyle (Jan Shores), St. Louis, MO, Rita Aden, Overland Park, KS, Susan Smith and her husband, Pharr, Houston, TX; her brother-in-law, Patrick Gross, Wayne, NE; her sister-in-law, Doris Doyle, Ave Maria, FL; her goddaughters and nieces, Amy Gross and Kara Hennesse; her godson and nephew, Walker Smith; and many other nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marguerite Doyle; her sister, Mary Jo Gross; her brother, Robert Doyle; her nephew, Courtland Smith; and her dear friend, Evelyn Scott.
