Jerry Kappenman, 81, a long-time, well-loved resident of Selah, WA passed away surrounded by his loved ones. Jerry was born in Centerville, SD to Sylvester (Sal) Kappenman and Edna (Hook) Kappenman along with his twin sister Joan on Sept. 10, 1935. He attended SDSU and started his career in education as a teacher and coach. He advanced his education and position to include high school administration as principal and superintendent. While teaching in Tyndall, SD he met and married Eileen Bambas in 1959. They raised 4 children, Kregg, Kristy, Kellee, and Kyle. In 1993 he retired from his career in education but Eileen said Jerry "flunked" retirement. Soon after they opened and ran the Kapp's T & T Sports Bar in Selah for 7 years. He was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish for 40 years. Jerry was an ever-present fan at the many athletic and academic events in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Jerry is survived b his wife of over 57 years Eileen, his 4 children and their spouses as well as 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his older brother Lawrence and his wife, Mary of Los Gatos, CA, his twin sister, Joan Horstman of Sioux Falls, SD and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are Jerry's parents and his siblings Sally Bertelsen, brothers Mark Kappenman, Pat Kappenman and Pat's wife Carole (Henrickson) Kappenman.
