Kathy Ann Kostboth Obituary
Kathy Ann Kostboth

Kathy Ann Kostboth, Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully at her home in Sioux Falls on March 17, 2016. She was 65.

Kathy Ann Kostboth was born in Sioux Falls on January 25, 1951, the daughter of Beryl and A.E. "Bertie" Kostboth. She grew up in Canistota, South Dakota surrounded by family and relatives and she used to say, "All these people are related to ME!" She attended school in Salem and Freeman and later worked at Mitchell Adjustment Training Center. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran in Canistota. In 1984, she and her parents moved to Sioux Falls and she joined what is now Lifescape in 1996. She lived at Hilltop for 20 years, surrounded by wonderful staff and friends. Here she took great pride in her job, her own apartment, and her independence. She loved all things Hello Kitty and loved pink. She loved her parent's cabin at Lake Madison. She spent her free time coloring posters and stringing beads. She loved her family and the staff at Hilltop. She had the unique ability to remember the birthday of everyone she knew and was able to say whose birthday was coming up next.

She is survived by her sister, Mary (Greg) Magnuson, Sioux Falls; her brother, David (Anita) Kostboth, Beresford, SD; three nephews, Marc Magnuson, Minneapolis, MN, Jon (Laura) Magnuson, Yankton, SD, and Eric (Lindsey) Magnuson, Laramie, WY; four nieces, Paige (Gareth) Davies, Madison, SD, Heather (Jeff) Javens, Mankota, MN, Heidi (Greg) Binstock, Sioux Falls, and Gretchen (Chris) Petersen, White Bear Lake, MN; six great-nephews and four great-nieces; an aunt, Mary Lou Royster, Canistota, and an uncle, Dale Knox, Sioux Falls. She is also survived by her life-long friend, Luella Buehner; her 20-year staff; her wonderful friend, Lynne Donovan, and other Hilltop staff who surrounded her with love, Tina DeLorenzo, Linda Fossum, and Kathy Brown and all the staff members who gave her 20 years of loving care; and her special friend, Helen Rokusek who helped find many Hello Kitty treasurers through the years.

A special thanks to two anonymous cornea donors who greatly improved Kathy's life.

Memorials may be directed to LifeScape in Sioux Falls.

Funeral Services will begin 1:00pm Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street. Interment will follow at 3:30pm at the Canistota Cemetery, Canistota, SD. Visitation begins at 2:00 Sunday afternoon at Miller Funeral Home Westside Chapel, with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 Sunday afternoon.
