Leonard Lewis Stahl, age 83 of Sioux Falls, passed away at home surrounded by family Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

Leonard Lewis Stahl was born November 23, 1933 in Dempster, SD to Garrett and Susie (Hector) Stahl. He was raised on a farm near Estelline, SD and attended rural grade school. He moved to California as a young man.

On September 25, 1955, he was united in marriage with Hazel Hjellming in Lynwood, CA. He served in the US Army from 1956 - 1958, and in the Army Reserves until 1962. After serving in the Army, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD.

Leonard was a member of First Lutheran Church, Minnehaha Lodge #5 A.F. & A.M. where he served as a Past Master and Secretary of the Lodge, and Sioux Falls Valley Scottish Rite. He enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, golf and hunting.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Hazel; children, Debra (Kevin) Nelson, Gregory Stahl and Jeffery (Catherine) Stahl; grandchildren, Anna, Sara, Emily and Tyler; Great-grandchildren, Eli and Everett; Sister, Wilma Ching; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Carl; Sisters, Gladys Amundson and Gertrude Leemhius; and son, Rodney.

Funeral Services 2:00 pm Sunday, July 23, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, 327 S. Dakota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation 2:00 - 4:00 pm Saturday, July 22, 2017 and Masonic Service beginning at 4:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD. Committal Service 10:00 Monday, July 24, 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery.
