Linda Brown

Linda Lee Brown, 72, of Sioux Falls, died Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Dougherty Hospice House after a long battle with cancer. A memorial visitation will be held 1:00-3:00 PM, Saturday, August 8, at George Boom Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Linda Shook was born January 16, 1943 in Tilden, NE to Robert and Ruth (Rethwisch) Shook. Linda married James Brown January 28, 1961 in Luverne, MN. They were blessed with two daughters, Christy and Jackie. She worked in the office at Sears for over 25 years. She then helped out in her brother's and sister's bars (Clem's and D.J.'s) and also at Big Al's Casino.

She was an avid reader, especially mysteries. She enjoyed spending time crocheting which was a pleasant way to spend her time but she enjoyed giving away her projects. She loved to spend time in her flower gardens and especially loved feeding her ducks in her driveway. Always a people person, she loved to visit and socialize. She would play Keno at the Casinos, but being around her friends made it more enjoyable.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Christy (John) Austin, Baltic, SD; sister, Susie Wagner (Dan Hovde), Burnsville, MN; brothers, Bob (Lou) Shook, Sioux Falls, SD, Bill Shook, Sioux Falls, SD and Jim (Penny) Shook, Valley Springs, SD; six grandchildren, Jessica (Tyler) Banwart, Kim Jensen, Tara Jensen, Kaylene (David) Akes, Kelsey Jensen and Jesse James Austin; five great-grandchildren, Areyna Banwart, Carter Jensen, Colin and Lauren Akes and Mason Jensen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; daughter, Jackie Jensen; parents, Bob and Ruth Shook and sister, Patricia Kraft.
