Lorraine Stapleton

July 20, 1920 - July 13, 2016

Lorraine Stapleton was born and raised in Minnesota, graduating from high school and college in Minneapolis. She taught high school for 2 years and was married during her Christmas vacation in a chapel at Camp Stewart, Georgia, where her husband, Charles, was stationed during WWII.

At the end of the war, she and Charles moved to his hometown, Sioux Falls, SD. They had 2 children, a daughter, and a son, who died when he was 12. Later they raised 3 foster children.

Lorraine worked part time for 28 years at the Sioux Falls Public Library. When she retired, she and Charles moved to their summer lake cottage, and for 20 years spent the winter months at their condo in Mission, Texas. Because of her husband's poor health, they moved to Omaha to be near their daughter. She has 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

They were very active in First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls and the First Christian Church in Mission. They joined the Calvary Baptist Church shortly after moving to Omaha in June, 1999.

Charles died Feb. 25, 2005. Lorraine joined Judson Baptist Church recently.

She is preceded in death by husband, Charles; daughter, Joan Malia. She is survived by daughter, Charlene Mason; foster sons, John Munion, Victor Munion; grandchildren: Kelly Collins (Rachelle), Jennifer Collins Goodman (Scott Goodman, M.D.), Chris Mason; great-grandchildren, Hannah Goodman, Shelby Goodman.
