Louie Skrondahl, Sioux Falls, SD, died May 10, 2016, in Sioux Falls, SD. He was 84.

Louis Richard Skrondahl was born March 14, 1932, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Louie and Catherine (Jones) Skrondahl. He graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1950. In 1951, Louie joined the US Air Force, and served during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in 1953, then became active in the SD Air National Guard. He worked for Manchester Biscuit and also served as a union treasurer.

In 1955, he was married to Eleanor Koch in Sioux Falls. In 1960, Louie began his career with Maxwell Hotel Supply. Louie remained active with the SD Air Guard until 1971. He enjoyed fishing and camping in Canada and area lakes and campgrounds, and always looked forward to fall when he could go out pheasant hunting. He also enjoyed boating and snowmobiling.

Louie married Linda Evans on April 6, 1979 in Sioux Falls. He retired from Maxwell in 1997. Louie and Linda enjoyed wintering in Arizona and taking trips to Branson, MO and to the US East coast. Linda died on February 3, 2002. In 2008, he traveled to Wales to meet his second cousin, Jenny, and her husband, Gareth Roberts and their family. Louie and the Roberts family kept in close contact throughout the years.

Equipped with a warm sense of humor and a quick wit, Louie was blessed with an outgoing and friendly spirit.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Nancy Skrondahl; son, Tracy (Susan) Skrondahl; grandson, Andrew Skrondahl; and a step-granddaughter, Whitley Henningson Dearduff, all of Sioux Falls, SD. In addition to his wife, Linda, he was preceded in death by his parents, a step-son, Monte, and brother, Alton.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, May 14, 2016, at East Side Lutheran Church. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday evening at Miller Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
