Memorial Services for Lowell Goosen will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 2 pm at the Salem Zion Mennonite (North) Church of rural Freeman. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday (today) at the Walter Funeral Home in Freeman.

Lowell Nordon Goosen was born on August, 24, 1928 to Nick and Laura (Miller) Goosen in Turner County, SD. He attended Freeman Academy and Freeman Junior College in Freeman, SD. He was a lifetime member of Salem-Zion Mennonite Church. He was married to Eva Irene Becker on May 16, 1951 and was blessed with two sons, Lowayne and Jerry. He was a dairy farmer, enjoyed watching sports and attending musical events in the community. Lowell passed away on March 1, 2016 at the Freeman Regional Hospital.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Eva, and their sons: Lowayne and Jackie (Lofland), Freeman, SD and Dr. Jerry and Misty (Hastings), Olathe, KS; five grandchildren: Durell (Gerald) Cope, Olathe, KS; Chelsea (Isaiah) Jackson, Charlestown, West Virginia; Brittany Goosen (fiancé Derek Domino), Harrisburg, SD; 3 great grandchildren: Charli and Pyper Cope and Wenly Jackson.
