Lucille B. Jensen, 91, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Riverview Healthcare Community in Flandreau, SD. Lucille was born May 18, 1924 to Theodore and Cecelia (Doyle) Bechen in rural Moody County, SD. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 1942 and in 1943 she worked as a clerk at Sioux Falls Air Force Base and later in Colorado Springs, CO. She returned to Flandreau in 1946 and held a variety of positions including Deputy Register of Deeds. She married Ted Kruse on February 7, 1949 and they briefly moved to Sioux Falls until 1955 when Ted took over his family's farm. In April 1961 Lucille began a distinguished career in the civil service working for the Selective Service, Social Security, and Omaha District Recruiting Command until her retirement in 1980. She received the "Clerk of the Year" award for the State of South Dakota from Washington. Ted passed away on February 25, 1978, but she continued to live on the farm caring for livestock and her pets. On April 16, 1979, Lucille married Melvin R. Jensen in Flandreau and they continued to happily live on the farm until Mel's death September 25, 2004. Lucille is survived by two nieces, Mary (Joseph) Routh; Gerene (John) Romanski; one nephew, John (Rosalie) Bechen; four great-nieces, Christine, Jori, Stephanie, Cisalie; a great-nephew, Jeremy; and sister-in-law, Della Bechen. Lucille was preceded in death by her husbands, Ted and Mel; her parents; two infant sisters, Ruth and Reva; brother, Vernon; sister, Leona; and two nieces, Roberta and Patricia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3 - 5 p.m. Sunday at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a 5:00 p.m. scripture service.
