Lyle F. McKichan

Lyle Fredrick McKichan, 88, passed away October 20, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center.

Lyle Fredrick McKichan was born at Bonilla, SD to George and Agnes (Jellis) McKichan on November 21, 1928. He attended grade school and high school there graduating in 1946.

Lyle entered the United States Army, and after basic training in Ft. Lewis Washington he was sent to Japan with the 11th airborne division stationed at Hatchinoe, Japan. After his discharge in 1948, he returned to South Dakota and attended Nettleton College where he met the love of his life, Gloria Jukam. They were married in 1953.

Lyle started his career at Western Surety in 1951. He worked in their offices in Sioux Falls, SD, Palo Alto, CA, and Philadelphia, PA. Lyle and the family returned to Sioux Falls, SD in 1972. He retired from Western Surety in 1993.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Gloria, son, Ted (Peg), daughters, Sara Huber and Jennifer (Andrew) Malsam; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner and Tara Huber, Grace, Bethany Eva and Thad Malsam. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandchild, David Paul Malsam.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels or givers choice.

A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home with family present from 5:00-7:00pm.
