M. Arlene Kallhoff Obituary
M. Arlene Kallhoff

M. Arlene Kallhoff passed away unexpectedly November 28, 2016 in a Sioux Falls, SD hospital.

She was living in Sioux Falls where she had resided for the last 5 years since relocating from Fargo. Arlene was born in Ayr, ND on Jan 23, 1928 to Harvey and Mary (Martin) Wheeler. She and her four brothers enjoyed living on the family farm at Wheatland, ND and she always said that she was "a farm girl". Arlene married Alvin R. "Smokey" Kallhoff on April 19th, 1949 and they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage, having two sons. They spent over 50 of those years in Fargo.

Arlene was active in First United Methodist Church, and the Loyal Order of Moose. She had many friends and enjoyed her "come double's" group who became life-long friends. She enjoyed being a housewife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her part-time work as a waitress. She loved to dance at the Eagles, Sons of Norway, Moose and countless other venues in Fargo; she was active in walking for exercise, but most of all, she enjoyed 'chumming' with her many friends.

During her time in Sioux Falls, her favorite pass time was relaxing on the patio - watching the cars and people pass by. Her delight was waving to the drivers and children - many of whom struck up conversation or waved back at the little white haired lady in the red hat. It made her very happy that people would wave back to her every time they drove by and it "made her day." It was quite heartwarming for everyone - the simple things…

Arlene is survived by sons Larry (Andra Wyman) of Sioux Falls and Rick of Fargo; brothers Harvey Wheeler, Jr of Casselton, and Gary (Marlene) Wheeler of Love's Park, IL; Kallhoff grandchildren Brian of Pomeroy, WA, Kasie of Fargo, William (Melisa), Aurora, CO; and Micah, Sioux Falls; great-grand-children, Liam and Asher, Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband "Smokey" and brothers Roy and Harry Wheeler.
