MADISON - Mary Ellen (Biggins) Taft, age 63, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was called home March, 23, 2016, at the UW Hospital in Madison, Wis., in the loving care of her transplant team and surrounded by family. Mary was born in Worcester, Mass., daughter of Thomas J. Biggins, Jr, and the Late Eleanor (Wasgatt) Biggins, and is survived by her best friend and husband of 42 years, Donald A. Taft. She was the beloved mother of Benjamin N. Taft and his wife Natalia of Racine, Wis., William B. Taft and his wife Jessica of Madison, Wis., Nathaniel N. Taft and his wife Elise of Mount Horeb, Wis., and Eleanor Mary Dickinson and her husband Jacob of Sioux Falls, S.D. She was the loving "Nana" to seven grandchildren: Norah McKenzie, Lydia Morgan, Gabrielle Zella, Evelyn Mary, Zebulon Donald, Micah Benjamin and Louisa Simone. Eldest of six children, she is survived by: Thomas J. Biggins, III of Sudbury, Mass., Robert J. Biggins of Hanson, Mass., Daniel J. Biggins of Worcester, Mass., Ann M. (Biggins) Hulette of Falls Church, Va. and Joseph M. Biggins of Acton, Mass. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. The Taft Family invites friends and family to celebrate Mary's life at a memorial service at SAINT JAMES EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 S. Main St., Verona, Wis., at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 16, 2016, with the Rev. Eldonna Hazen presiding. Luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will be at FOREST HILL CEMETERY in Madison. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on the day of the funeral. Online condolences may be made at
