Mary M. Vietor, Sioux Falls, SD, died October 30, 2015, at Sanford/USD Medical Center. She was 80.

Mary Marie (Moter) Vietor was born November 19, 1934, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Elmo and Luella (Koller) Moter. Raised in Hartford, SD, Mary graduated from Hartford High School in 1952, where she was the homecoming queen. Following high school she worked with the telephone company in Sioux Falls.

Mary was united in marriage to Marlyn Vietor on September 3, 1954, in Hartford, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls. In addition to being a loving homemaker, wife and mother, Mary worked at First Federal Savings and Loan and Home Federal Savings and Loan. She also played a key role in the establishment and management of Vista Window and Door Company. Following her retirement from banking, she enjoyed working part-time with Statz Medical.

In her free time, Mary loved playing mahjongg and bridge and enjoyed walking outdoors, especially when accompanied by her beloved dogs. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, and was particularly fond of her grandson. Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church and Active Generations.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Marlyn; son, Kenneth Vietor and his wife, Sandi, all of Sioux Falls; grandson, Cole Vietor, Los Angeles, California; sister, Dorthea Prunty and her husband David, of Hartford, SD and sister-in-law, Arlis Vietor of Lennox, SD. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to service time at the church. A private interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery prior to services.

Memorials may be directed to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society or First United Methodist Church.
