Milo E. Rang

Milo E. Rang, age 81 of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at his home under hospice care. Funeral services will be will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell with burial and military rites at the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Milo E. Rang, son of Joseph and Freda (Moeller) Rang, was born July 21, 1934 in Elkton, SD. He grew up on the family farm near Bushnell, SD and attended school in Bushnell. Milo then attended country school. After his schooling, Milo moved to Mitchell, SD. He entered the US Army on March 11, 1957 and served in Korea and Japan. While in Japan, he climbed Mt. Fuji. Milo was honorably discharged on December 23, 1960 and returned to Mitchell.

Milo was united in marriage with Karen DeLance on November 5, 1960 in Dunlap, IA. The couple made their home in Mitchell. While in Mitchell Milo was employed at Bell Telephone and Ross Lab. Milo and his family moved to Omaha, NE for a short time before returning to Mitchell. Milo was employed at Owatonna Manufacturing and then began his career with Coca-Cola as a Refrigeration Service Manager. He retired in 1998 after 18 years of service with Coca-Cola. In his retirement, Milo drove school bus for the Mitchell School District for 10 years.

He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Milo was also a member of the American Legion, a former member of the Mitchell Exchange Club and served as a board member of the Lakeview Lawn Bowling Association.

Milo was a very competitive person and enjoyed all types of sports. He loved playing and pitching fast pitch softball, hunting, lawn bowling and auctions sales. Milo's greatest pleasures were his children and grandchildren and owning a white dove release business.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Karen Rang, Mitchell, SD; four children, Joel Rang, Mitchell, SD, Paula (Ralyn) Kruetzfeldt, Sioux Falls, SD, Susan (Chris) Berry, Sioux Falls, SD, Richard Rang, Mitchell, SD; 11 grandchildren, Randy (Melissa) Rang, Kelsey (Jason) Waltman, Derrick and Darby Kruetzfeldt, Kelly (Amy) Kruetzfeldt, Kara (Shawn) Britton, Arianna and Cade Berry, Cole Fergen, all of Sioux Falls, SD, Dylon Bollock-Rang and Abby Rang, both of Mitchell, SD; a sister-in-law, Janice Roth, Council Bluff, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Lowell and a sister, Dorothy Krogman.
